A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital and a road remains closed following a serious collision.

A crash between a van and a bicycle in Maldon Road in Witham at 11am this morning has left a cyclist with serious injuries.

Traffic is building in the area as emergency services are at the scene.

The road is closed from the Sauls Bridge Close junction.

The police have issued an appeal for the public to get in contact with any information in relation to the crash.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are currently on the scene of a serious collision on Maldon Road in Witham.

“We were called shortly after 11am this morning (15 December) following reports of a collision involving a van and a bicycle.

“The cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Emergency services remain on scene and Maldon Road is currently closed from the Sauls Bridge Close junction.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or have any further information or dashcam footage to contact us.
