DRIVERS may be set for delays with a town road scheduled to close next month.

Shakespeare Drive in Maldon is set to close this December.

Drivers should be away the road will be shut for up to five days from December 12.

However, it is estimated the work will be completed on December 14.

The road will be closed to vehicles but access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

The road will shut from its junction with Masefield Road to its junction with Tennyson Road.

This is to protect the public and workforce while work is carried out by Essex Highways to repair potholes.

A spokesman for Essex Highways added: "The temporary closure is scheduled to commence for up to five days however, please check one.network for the most up-to-date information on the duration of the closure.

"The alternative route will be via Shakespeare Drive, Mundon Road, Limebrook Way Roundabout, Limebrook Way, Fambridge Road, Milton Road, Masefield Road and vice versa.

"Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained at all times."
