HUNDREDS of people will march through Halstead to remember those impacted by war.

The Halstead branch of the Royal British Legion will be hosting its Remembrance Day parade on Sunday, November 13.

The parade is held to remember those lost during wars.

Starting at the Halstead public gardens, the parade will make its way along the High Street to St Andrews Church, where a service will be held.

The branch is inviting people to get involved and also hopes more local businesses will show their support.

Members of the Halstead Templars rugby club, brownies, guides, Halstead Football Club and the Womans Institute will be taking part.

Stephen Arundell, vice chairman of Halsted Royal British Legion, said: “Around 300 people usually take part.

“At 2pm on Sunday we meet at the Halstead public gardens and it's normally led by a couple of vicars and Tony Jones, the chairman of the Halstead branch.

“We have a great surround system supplied by Amps and Decs, a local company.

“We try and keep everything local if we can.

“We have a service in the public gardens and the wreaths are laid there.

“Then we march with the Essex ACF Corp of drums lead us through up to St Andrew's Church and we have a little ceremony up there.

“Everybody goes into the church and we have a service.

“It’s about an hour and a half of remembering not only the soldiers who have died in wars but the civilians, animals and anyone who suffered.

“It's not just the first world war and second world war, it's everything happening at the moment.

“We are looking for more and more local groups to attend, it is growing.

“We have the brownies, guides and the rugby club but we are looking for more local companies to get involved.”
