A MAIN road bridge and footpath have reopened following “essential works” and several weeks of closure.
Chipping Hill Bridge which carries Powers Hall End over the River Brain in Witham has reopened.
The work began back on September 26, with a road closure at the bridge.
It was said the closure would continue until the repairs are completed in early November 2022, however it has reopened ahead of schedule.
The closure took place whilst essential repairs were made to the structure's brickwork, with the footbridge also being re-decked.
An Essex Highways spokesman said: “We are pleased to advise that Powers Hall End in Witham reopened this afternoon to vehicles following the early completion of repairs to Chipping Hill Bridge.
“Thank you for your patience throughout these works.”
