A TEENAGER has been charged in connection with two burglaries in Witham yesterday morning.

Properties in Laburnum Way and Rowan Road were broken into between 2.30am and 2.45am on Thursday, October 6.

A car was taken from each address.

Police were able to track one of them to the Ongar area and officers from the Roads Policing Unit stopped it at around 3.45am.

The car stolen from Rowan Road was recovered.

A 17 year-old boy from High Wycombe was later arrested. 

A teenager has now been charged with two counts of burglary, possession of a knife or bladed article, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance.

"He is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 7 October.

Detective Chief Inspector Nathan Hutchinson said:“Tackling burglaries is a force priority and we have an expectation of attending every burglary at a home.

“In this instance we responded swiftly to a report of a break-in and quickly make an arrest and recover a vehicle.

“Our detectives from CID are in contact with the victims and are liaising with other police forces to locate another vehicle and further suspects.

“We are continuing to appeal for information relating to both incidents.”
