FIREFIGHTERS worked for more than three hours to rescue a horse after it got stuck in a river.
Essex Fire Service was called to the River Chelmer at Nounsley at 8.21pm on Sunday to reports of a horse stuck in the water.
Crews from Chelmsford and Witham as well as an urban search and rescue vehicle were at the scene to assist.
Fire crews worked alongside a vet to rescue the horse by 11.52pm.
Following the incident, he was safely reunited with his herd.
