A MUCH-LOVED café has officially opened a new venue in a town’s museum.

Something Scrummy, which is based on Coggeshall Road in Braintree, was first launched in September 2012.

The brainchild of Andrew and Emily Pennock, the café offers a selection of breakfasts, lunches and sweet treats.

The name Something Scrummy was suggested by Emily’s sister, who said "the name needs to be ‘something scrummy sounding’ so that people know you are making nice treats.”

Now, after nearly ten years of being in business, the couple has launched a new café at the Braintree Museum.

Holding an opening ceremony, the ribbon was cut by the owners’ nieces and nephews - Chloe, Alfie, Brandon, Walter, and Nancy.

The café is now open every Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm.

Emily said: “We are just very excited to have been given this opportunity, especially working in such a lovely, historic building.

“Some of our customers have already commented on how lovely the cafe space is.

“We're looking forward to people seeing the hard work that we have put in to change the look of the space and we're also excited to have expanded to offering seats for people to eat in with us.”

The Museum is part of Braintree District Museum Trust which is a charitable company that also tends to the Warner Textile Archive.
