BRAINTREE Town have added to their National League South squad for the new season that kicks off on Saturday away to full-timers and one of the promotion favourites Dulwich Hamlet, writes DAVID WARD.

Current Bermudan international midfielder Willie Clemons has signed having impressed manager Angelo Harrop and his backroom team in pre-season friendlies, scoring in the 3-0 win against Maldon & Tiptree FC last Saturday.

He has played in several of the Iron's pre-season friendlies and moves to the Dunmow Group Stadium from Eastern Counties League side Stowmarket who he joined in October of last year.

Another newcomer is 18 year-old Albie Armin who joins the Iron on loan until January from Ipswich Town and made his debut in the first half of the pre-season friendly against Maldon and Tiptree FC.

The youngster made his first team debut at Portman Road in last season's Papa John's Trophy against West Ham and went on to be an unused substitute in three further games.

Another new signing is winger Samir Bessandra who also impressed in his debut in the game against Maldon & Tiptree FC and will give the Iron management more options as they prepare for their new season.

Overall the squad assembled is much stronger than what Iron fans experienced last season and hopes are high for the new campaign with just two players left from last season - central defender Kyran Clements and midfielder Alfie Payne.

The Iron have no midweek game next week with the first home game coming on Saturday week against Havant & Waterlooville.
