A SCHOOL has been praised by watchdogs after retaining its 'good' rating in its latest inspection.

Great Bradfords Infant and Nursery School in Braintree maintained its rating from Ofsted.

Throughout the report, the school was praised for its pupil experience, lessons, the knowledge of subject leaders, and the roles of governors.

The report said: “This is a friendly school where pupils develop the confidence to be themselves.

“Pupils experience a rich curriculum that extends their understanding across a broad range of subjects, they are well prepared for the next stage of their education.”

The report added: “Leaders have carefully considered the curriculum. They have identified how children’s learning in the early years connects to the subjects that pupils study in key stage 1.

“Teachers plan lessons that help pupils build on what they have learned before. Regular practice and review help pupils secure the important knowledge they need.

“In mathematics, pupils apply their learning in problem-solving and mathematical reasoning.”

There was also high praise given to the school governors, saying that they were “confident in their roles”, “visit the school regularly”, and “value the challenge and support they receive from the governing body to continue to improve the school”.

Headteacher Anita Easton said: “We were absolutely delighted with our recent Ofsted result, and I am enormously proud to be the headteacher of such a great school.

“All staff have worked extremely hard to deliver the best education and care for our wonderful children.

“The pandemic put a lot of strain on the whole community, and we have been focused on supporting our children and families academically and emotionally.

“Our children are keen, curious learners and we will continue to provide a rich, broad curriculum that ignites their enthusiasm for learning.

“I am pleased that Ofsted acknowledges that we are still a good school, and we will continue to go from strength to strength.

“We have lots of plans for the year ahead and we look forward to welcoming back all of our children and families, both current and new.”
