A MOTHER is putting on an event for babies and toddlers in the district to raise money for charity.

Michelle Lee, from Braintree, is hosting the Braintree Parents of Babies and Toddlers event in August for the First Stop Centre charity.

The Braintree-based charity is a grassroots project that offers help to members of the community who are struggling with problems in their lives.

Michelle, who is a trustee for the charity, is putting on the event in the hope that it can help families who are raising children.

She said: “I had my first child in February 2020 and weeks later lockdown struck and my experience of what I thought motherhood may be like was very different to what I had imagined as it was for many.

“During the last four months, I have thought about ways in which I can help other families and came up with an all-encompassing event which would help local families, local businesses, and local organizations whilst raising funds for an amazing charity.”

The event has been supported by stall-holders from places such as Braintree Museum, local baby classes, fitness experts, handmade children's clothing, eco brands, first aid classes and more.

There will also be a raffle to help raise funds for the First Stop Centre.

Michelle added: “We have some amazing raffle prizes already, including free hall hire from Jardins for a child’s birthday party, a family pass to Braintree Museum for four for 12 months, various baby classes, and vouchers off baby clothes and birthday cake.”

The event is on August 14, from 11am to 3pm, at Jardins in Braintree.
