MALDON'S mayor and deputy mayor supported a garden event which raised money for charity.
The cream tea and open garden event at Acacia Drive, in Maldon, raised more than £1,800 for Parkinson’s UK charity.
Diana Rogers, who organises annual events in her garden to raise money for charities, was diagnosed with the early stages of Parkinson’s disease last September.
A barbecue in the eveninghelped to raise £420 for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.
Live music from the Jacs band provided visitors with entertainment.

There were gazebos up to provide shade on the sunny day and a tombola, plant stall and raffle.
Diana said: “I was totally overwhelmed with the community support, and we were full to capacity.
“People seemed so pleased to have the freedom to mingle and meet up with old friends once again after two summers of Covid restrictions.
“I would also like to thank the Cream Tea Society for providing many of the cream teas, Wilkin and Son for additional Tiptree jam, and also the support of Tesco community champion Rhiain Oakley, who provided scone ingredients, gluten-free scones and superb raffle prizes.”
