A MAN who was allegedly more than three times over the limit has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a collision.

Essex Police were called to School Road in Silver End in the early hours of Saturday morning after receiving reports of a road traffic collision.

Upon arriving, officers breathalysed the driver at the scene.

Essex Police has said the man had 115mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

The legal limited is 35mg with officers saying the man was allegedly almost three and a half times over the legal limit.

The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution but was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A spokesman for Essex Police added: “Unfortunately, we have seen a rapid increase recently in the number of drink drivers being reported to us.

“Drink driving is one of the fatal road issues which leads to innocent people being killed on our roads.

“Our message is clear. Get behind the wheel drunk, you will be arrested and we will take you to court.”
