A POPULAR pub is rolling out the barrel this weekend with a jubilee extravaganza.

The Hare and Hounds, in High Garrett, is inviting residents to come along and enjoy the platinum jubilee celebrations.

The pub is going above and beyond for this weekend’s jubilee fun and has been transformed into a red, white, and blue tribute to the Queen and will offer plenty for the whole family.

For children, there will be a bouncy castle, face painting and garden games along with live music.

The event is on June 4 from 1pm to 6pm.

At 8pm, the pub will also be holding a late event with a live band.

The pub has also confirmed multi-award winning international vocalist Destiny Michelle will also be performing a series of songs from accross the decades of the Queen's reign from 1pm to 4pm.

It is free entry throughout and there will also be charity donation and fundraiser opportunities for a charity yet to be decided.

Pub owner Michael Campbell said: “In the daytime, it is about the kids - there will be plenty for them to do.

“It is going to be a proper family day out with lots going on and everything will be secure.

“Kids can run around, and dogs are also more than welcome.

“High Garrett is not a road which can be shut for a party, so we thought we’d bring that experience into our garden.

“Every year we do a family fun day which normally gets in excess of 200 people visiting and for the football we had over 700 so we definitely know how to handle big events.

“This is going to be a big event. We have had a lot of interaction so far.

“We also hope to raise some money for charity with raffles and tombolas. People like to dress up too so maybe there will be a prize for the best dressed.

“There will also be a charity collection box.

“We’re allowed music - we can do it once per month, and this is an event where the whole country is getting involved.

“The council are fully aware of what we’re doing and so are the police."

Visitors are urged to avoid driving to the pub as there is limited parking.
