BRAINTREE Town have appointed Angelo Harrop as their new first-team manager.

Harrop has left his role as joint manager of Pitching In Isthmian League division north side AFC Sudbury to take charge, at the National League South club.

The former Colchester United youngster, who started out in management with Stanway Rovers in 2013, had been at the Suffolk club for the last season working as joint manager alongside Rick Andrews.

Harrop had previously worked as Stanway's Director of Football and worked as head coach at Brightlingsea Regent.

The former Gilberd School pupil has also run a Sports Coaching Specialists firm for more than ten years and has worked as a scout at Ipswich Town.

Harrop takes over from Ryan Maxwell, who left his role as Braintree boss earlier this month by mutual consent.
