A MAN has been fined and ordered to pay a large compensation fee after being found in possession of drugs and causing damage to a property.
Byron North, of Manor Street, Braintree, was found to be in possession of cannabis in Braintree last month.
The 33-year-old was also charged with damaging a police cell.
The court heard North “damaged a police cell to the value of £150 belonging to Essex Police intending to destroy or damage such property.”
After appearing in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, North admitted both charges, and for possessing a controlled drug, was fined £80, and ordered to pay victim surcharge fees of £34 and £145 to the CPS.
For the damage on the police station cell, North was ordered to pay compensation fees of £150.
