A FUNDRAISING group has ended the football season with a bang after raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

The Braintree Macmillan Fundraising Group was at Braintree Town Football Club’s final game of the National League South season against Billericay Town.

The club allowed the group to attend and hold a bucket collectionat the ground as they worked hard to raise more funds, which goes to sponsoring local based Macmillan nurses and supporting people and families in the community.

The group raised more than £300 on the day and have thanked the club for their help.

Chairman of Braintree Macmillan Fundraising Group Linda Kirby said: “Special thanks to Braintree Town Football Club for allowing us to collect.

“Our collection group was made very welcome by all club staff and all fans, and we raised an amazing £363.37p.

“Finally, special thanks to all our Braintree Macmillan Fundraising Group helpers who gave up their free time to attend.”

Linda said the group is always looking for volunteers to help out. She added:

“If anyone would like to arrange or requires help to arrange a local Macmillan fundraising event or maybe volunteer to help our group at events, you would be most welcome.”
