BRAINTREE TOWN confirmed their National League South status for another season with a 3-1 win over Hemel Hempstead Town, at the Dunmow Group Stadium.

Khale Da Costa gave the Iron the lead in the 26th minute and Gianni Chrichlow doubled it, five minutes later.

The visitors pulled a goal back through Scott-Morriss in the 65th minute before Chrichlow wrapped up Braintree's win with his second of the game, in the closing stages.

Braintree and Witham Times:

HALSTEAD TOWN overcame the odds to return to Step 5 of the football pyramid for the first time in 17 years.

The Humbugs won 2-1 at Buckhurst Hill, to secure victory in their Thurlow Nunn League first division south play-off.

Buckhurst Hill had lost only twice in the league all season and accumulated 27 points more than the visitors.

Halstead went ahead in the third minute through Jack Schelvis, who volleyed in after Jordan Blackwell’s corner was flicked on by Calvin Poku.

But Buckhurst Hill's Sully Zudhu equalised albeit in bizarre circumstances when Nick Miller’s clearance struck him on the back and looping over the stranded Jack Cherry to bring the home crowd to life.

But Halstead showed their resilience as they struck back immediately with Harris playing a fine ball out to Blackwell on the right.

The winger made progress to the by-line and cut the ball back to Poku, who swept the ball home to restore Halstead’s advantage.

WITHAM TOWN will play their football in Pitching In Isthmian League division north next season after beating Saffron Walden Town 3-0 in a play-off.

Goals from Rian McLean, Josh Osude and Jimmy Wallace gave Chris Taylor's side a crucial victory.

Witham finished the game with only ten men after Archie Tamplin was sent off in the 74th minute but it did not matter in the end, as Town preserved their division north status.
