POLICE have seized hundreds of pounds of cash and drugs following a drugs raid in Braintree.

Officers with Essex Police executed a warrant to search a property in Wheatley Avenue this morning (Friday, April 29) where they found the cash, cocaine wraps and drug paraphernalia.

A 30-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman are now helping officers from Essex Police's North Disruptor Team with their inquiries following the raid.

Police say their inquiries are ongoing.

Essex Police have three Disruptor Teams covering the county, which focus on identifying, investigating and tackling crimes and anti-social behaviour which impact local communities and on protecting vulnerable people.

They also work with other local and specialist teams to bring to justice offenders intent on harming communities.

However, Essex Police say they can’t continue their work without information and rely on the public to help.

Sergeant Phil Weedon, of North Disruptor said: “Drugs are often associated with violence and other serious crimes, which cause harm both to vulnerable people and to our communities.

“North Disruptor is here to tackle this type of criminality but we need information from the public to help us do so.

“We want you to tell us what you know about criminal activity and anti-social behaviour in your area.

"Car number plates, names, CCTV and doorbell images are particularly helpful but any information related to crime and criminality may be useful to us.

“Please don’t assume we already know.”
