A POLICE station opened to the public for the first time and had an amazing turnout.

Residents flocked to Braintree Police Station for its first ever open day on Sunday, April 3.

Police officers, community support officers and volunteer specials for the district helped to make the day special for a lot of people.

As well as being able to sit in a police car, visitors could also visit the old custody cells and have their fingerprints taken.

"We are looking at doing more events like this in the future - and will incorporate some of the feedback we received."
