Upgrades include a new toddler play area, which see the existing roundabout, swings and slide replaced with a modern single unit.

There are other park upgrades for older children too, aiming at open ended play, for children to create their own games, including ropes and bars.

The importance of long-lasting and long-wearing equipment has been stressed, with the hopes that it will now last a good amount of time.

Braintree and Witham Times:

A spokesman for the Parish Council said: “We're delighted that the new equipment on the Recreation Ground is now open for the enjoyment of the residents of Kelvedon.

“It's taken a great deal of effort and coordination from parish councillors and Braintree Council, but we're very pleased with the results.

“The work has needed to be done for some time and we hope that residents will feel that the new equipment was worth the wait.”

The new park opened on March 29, with the new toddler area planning to open at about Easter time.
