IT is a case of one in, one out for Braintree Town.

Femi Akinwande has quit the Iron to join their National League South rivals Billericay Town.

But Ryan Maxwell has moved quickly to replace the former Colchester United and Stevenage forward, snapping up young striker Wassim Aouachria on loan from League One outfit Charlton Athletic.

The 21-year-old, who is a Algerian under-18 international, was formerly a youth player at Marseille.

He joined Charlton in 2019 and made his senior debut for the South London club a year later.

Aouachria has represented Algeria at youth level, at the 2018 Mediterranean Games.

Meanwhile, Akinwande has joined his former club Billericay after leaving Braintree.

Writing on Twitter, he said: 'Buzzing for the opportunity to come back to such a great club! Ready to get going'.

Braintree, who were without a game in National League South last weekend, are in FA Trophy action, this weekend.

They travel to play National League South rivals St Albans City in the third round of the competition, at Clarence Park.

The Iron played a friendly match against reigning Evo-Stick South Central League division one champions Peterborough Sports, on Tuesday night.

Ryan Maxwell's side played out a 2-2 draw with Peterborough Sports in a friendly at Cressing Road, last night.

The Iron trailed 2-0 but two goals from a trialist secured them a draw.
