ONE of north Essex's most iconic structures is featured in a new postcard collection.
Artist Władysław Mirecki spent the last two years painting each of the 32 arches of Chappel Viaduct in watercolours.
Now his paintings are being reproduced in a boxed set of 32 postcards.
The famous viaduct was built by Peter Bruff in the 1840s for the Colchester, Stour Valley, Sudbury and Halstead Railway.
The grade two listed, 1,060ft-long viaduct is 75ft high and the second largest brick-built structure in the country, behind Battersea Power Station.
It has seven million bricks made of clay from nearby Bures.
Władysław Mirecki is a self-taught artist from Chelmsford, and is the co-proprietor of Chappel Galleries.
Sets of 32 postcards are available from the gallery priced £15 plus £1.75 P&P. The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm.
