A BID to build 11 new homes in a village has been given the green light by council planning bosses.

Developer the Harding Group has been given permission to build the new homes on land west of Hill House, Brent Hall Road, Finchingfield.

The site is a vacant field and was subject to two bids for 10 and 16 homes previously.

Both bids were passed on appeal but, according to Braintree Council, “remain extant.”

The new bid sought full planning permission for 11 homes - seven market value homes and four affordable homes.

The market homes consist of five detached houses and one semi-detached pair.

The remaining homes are formed by two pairs of semi-detached houses with driveway parking.

The smallest homes have four bedrooms while the biggest has between six and seven.

The houses will be laid out in a circle around the edge of the development.

There will be a single access point off Brent Hall Road.

The application for 11 homes was found to be acceptable by the Finchingfield Parish Council, subject to minor changes.

There was some opposition to the most recent application with just four objections sent to the council.

During the Braintree Council planning committee meeting on Tuesday, councillors unanimously voted to approve the application with a request to add electric car charging points and looking into adding solar panels.
