A SHELTER is inviting members of the community to a special day to get some donations for their animals.

Danaher Animal Home in Wethersfield in putting on its annual toys and treats day.

The event is on Sunday December 5 from 1.30 to 4.30pm, with the aim to encourage the public to bring in donations for their animals for Christmas.

Families can bring along their pets, with dog-friendly dogs welcome.

Visitors will come to the home and will be able to leave various toys and treats under the Christmas tree for the animals at the shelter.

There will be a variety of stalls for families and visitors, with cakes, mince pies and refreshments.

Additionally, there will also be a photographer taking photos of families and their dogs with Santa in his sleigh.

Karen Joyer, home facilities manager at Danaher, said: “We used to have stockings outside our kennels and cat pens but the public can no longer access these areas so this is the first-time we have held a small event in the hope we will still get people donating for the animals.”

Entry to the event is free, however parking is limited, so visitors are encouraged to arrive promptly.
