MID and South Essex Trust hospitals were caring for 101 coronavirus patients earlier this week, latest figures show.

NHS data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 on Tuesday (November 16) was down from 111 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 increased by five per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 96.

Across England there were 6,623 people in hospital with Covid as of November 16, with 796 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally and the number on mechanical ventilators both increased by nine per cent in the last four weeks.

The figures also show that 91 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in the week to November 14. This was down from 99 in the previous seven days.

East Suffolk and North Essex Trust, which runs Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, was caring for 66 coronavirus patients – down from 76 a week earlier.

Fifty-nine new Covid patients were admitted to hospital at the trust in the week to November 14 – up from 43 in the previous week.
