A MAN has been handed a community order and told to pay compensation after admitting assaulting two police officers.

Adam Lee Fell, 34, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court, charged with assaulting two emergency workers, theft, possession of a class B drug and criminal damage.

Fell, of Saunders Avenue, Braintree, was arrested on November 1, 2020, in Braintree for the assault of a special constable.

Occurring on the same day, Fell was also charged after being found to be in possession of cannabis as well as the theft of a warrant card from the special constable.

After previously denying the assault charge on October 8, Fell admitted to all the charges. He was sentenced to pay £545 in compensation and other costs and attend treatment for alcohol dependency for six months.

He was ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

Fell was also charged with the assault by beating of a police constable, committed on the same day.

Having denied the charge on October 8, Fell was sentenced to pay £250 in compensation after later admitting to the charge.

Fell also admitted criminal damage to a digital pen which belonged to Essex Police while in Basildon on November 2, 2020.

This admission was taken in to account for the overall sentencing, but Fell was not ordered to pay further compensation.
