FIREFIGHTERS from a village fire station were called in to action following a fire in a flat.
A fire team from Wethersfield was called out to Radwinter Road, Saffron Waldon after reports of a flat fire.
Other teams from Saffron Waldon and Newport were also called at around 10am on Friday, October 22.
Upon their arrival, they found a fire was ongoing in a second floor flat.
A spokesman for the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews led residents from neighbouring flats to safety and worked hard to fully extinguish the fire by 11.51am.
"The fire was contained to the flat. Crews used fans to clear the smoke.
"An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause."
