THE mum of a young boy who died after a battle with cancer says her faith in humanity has been restored by the community’s response and support.

Tanya Boyd, 39, of Clacton, has been grieving the loss of her son Harrison since his death earlier this month.

The 13-year-old died following an agonising eight-month fight with a rare cancer called NUT carcinoma.

Speaking previously Tanya said she was by Harrison’s side when he took his final breath and that he showed “bravery and courage” throughout his journey.

Since then Tanya has been inundated with messages of condolence and support from both friends and family - and people from across the world.

She has now praised and acknowledged those who have helped and supported her in the days following her son’s death.

“I have been deeply and truly touched and overwhelmed by the millions of people reaching out,” added Tanya.

“Thank you all so, so much for all your messages - you are all so kind and amazing.

“You have all restored my faith in humanity.

“Harrison has touched so many people’s hearts all over the world and inspired so many and he will be missed by so many.

“It is heart-warming and overwhelming to know we have so much support from people.”

Harrison’s fight with cancer started back in February when Tanya took him to hospital after he started to feel unwell.

After several tests, two tumours were discovered in his spine and lung and in May, Harrison was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called NUT carcinoma.

The doctor’s verdict shattered his family and devastated his younger brother Henley, who is four.

During that time he endured endless chemotherapy sessions at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Throughout his struggle, however, Tanya’s “soul mate” dedicated himself to documenting his journey on social media to help other children with rare illnesses.

As a result, he amassed a huge followings - some of which have now paid tribute to Harrison.

Joanie James said: “R.I.P Harrison.

“You were such a brave young man.”

Lindsey Proctor added: “Taken far too soon. My thoughts are with your family and friends.”

A funeral service will be held for Harrison at the Weeley Crematorium in Clacton at 11.45am on October 29.

The wake will be held at the Toby Carvery and balloons will be released on the seafront.

Tanya said: “I have decided to leave it as an open invite.

“If you would like to come and say goodbye, you are more than welcome.”
