In the wake of Steve Bruce's departure from Newcastle United today, fans are asking how much the manager will receive as payoff.

The exact details of his contract payoff have not been officially confirmed by the club but reports suggest Bruce could receive in the region of £8million following his departure.

Bruce left his position today, with Graeme Jones set to take charge of the side for this weekend’s game against Crystal Palace.

Newcastle released a statement this morning announcing that Bruce had left his position "by mutual consent".

The details of his contract payoff have not been officially confirmed as of Wednesday morning.

It comes 13 days after the club’s new owners completed their takeover.

Steve Bruce contract details

Bruce has been at the helm since the summer of 2019 when he took over from the departing Rafa Benitez.

The manager signed a three-year deal with his hometown club, and it is understood he will be in line for around £8million in compensation following his departure.

A statement, released by the club this morning, thanked Bruce for his work at the club and wished him well for the future.

Steve Bruce said: "I am grateful to everyone connected with Newcastle United for the opportunity to manage this unique football club.

"I would like to thank my coaching team, the players and the support staff in particular for all their hard work. There have been highs and lows, but they have given everything even in difficult moments and should be proud of their efforts.

"This is a club with incredible support, and I hope the new owners can take it forward to where we all want it to be. I wish everyone the very best of luck for the rest of this season and beyond."
