SANTA costume-clad runners are set to return to Braintree in aid of a homeless charity.

The Santa Fun Run, in aid of Hope House Essex, returns to Great Notley Country Park on December 12 after the success of a virtual event in 2020.

The charity has teamed up with Braintree and District Athletics Club to help anyone new to running to build up to the event.

The athletics club will be running a 10-week couch-to-5k course starting today and culminates in the 5k Santa Fun Run.

Run director Dan Burdge said: “We are really excited to be able to host an in-person event again this year and it is great to have the support of Braintree and District Athletics Club, who we hope will be able to encourage anyone who wants to get involved but is nervous about running 5k.”

The charity is also giving runners the option to take part remotely any time in December and run, walk or cycle 5km.

Tickets for the Santa Fun Run can be purchased from hopehouseessex.org.uk.
