POST office bosses say they are working hard to restore services after Braintree town centre's branch was forced to close.
The post office in New Street is shut temporarily after the the shop where it is based closed "unexpectedly".
Customers are having to use other branches outside the town centre.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “Braintree post office is temporarily closed as the shop has unexpectedly closed.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
"We know how important a post office is to a community.
"We are working hard to restore Post Office services as soon as possible.
"In the interim alternative branches include Masefield Road, Jubilee Oak and Panfield Lane.”
The alternative branches are:
• Masefield Road, Braintree.
• Jubilee Oak, 12-14 Cressing Road, Braintree.
• Panfield Lane, 194 Panfield Lane, Braintree.
