VOLUNTEERS have reached a major milestone after helping thousands of vulnerable people during the pandemic.

Witham Hub has reached 50,000 interventions during the Covid pandemic.

The hub, which is based in Newlands Shopping Centre has been a beacon of support for the town during the pandemic, providing assistance to anyone needing support.

Interventions by the team have included putting together and delivering food parcels, collecting prescriptions, moving furniture, and assisting anyone who has struggled with their physical health or suffered with mental health issues.

Found Tina Townsend said to reach the milestone is "amazing".

She added: "The team has worked incredibly hard to support those who have needed us and we are, perhaps, a little saddened by being needed quite so much.

“However, speaking on behalf of the trustees, I would like to thank every single supporter who has made this possible and, especially, our dedicated volunteers who have been absolutely vital in achieving this level of help.

"When I started this project, I never thought it would be so needed by so many.

“I’m personally very proud of what we have achieved.”
