A NEW town mayor has been appointed in Witham.
Angela Kilmartin was elected mayor for the civic year at a meeting of Witham Town Council.
Mrs Kilmartin said she is thrilled to take up the position.
Her chosen charities are Macmillan Nurses and Witham Amateur Operatic Society.
Mrs Kilmartin (pictured) said: “I am excited and delighted to have been voted in by town council members for this honourable civic position.
“Additionally, I will be chairing all full town council meetings which are to be held in the beautiful and newly refurbished council chamber where members of the public may watch proceedings once a month.
“I sincerely hope that the whole town comes permanently out of Covid restrictions with sensible care and that this lovely old town can have its vibrancy back to stay.
"I look forward to being out and about with lots of invitations.”
Jack Bayford was elected as deputy mayor for the civic year.
