I am sure I am not alone in urging the upgrading of the A120 between Braintree and the A12 as a matter of urgency, as one key effect will be to ease the congestion at Galleys (McDonalds’) roundabout.

As one who has spent long periods queuing at this roundabout, reflecting on the wasted fuel and pollution from vehicles going nowhere, a new road cannot come quick enough.

I always read Green Party county councillor James Abbott’s views on this and other new roads with dismay. He can be very vocal at claiming there are better alternatives to proposals put forward, but fails to say what these are

Objections such as he makes as a political spokesperson can delay the construction of a new road, and perhaps he needs to reflect on the implications of his political and idealistic posturing on the lives of ordinary road users.
