Piles of litter were left behind in parks and green spaces last week as lockdown eased.
Braintree Council released images of Witham Rugby Club and Great Notley Country Park with chairs, bottles and cans all left.
The council labelled the scenes "depressing and appalling".
In a statement on Facebook it said: "Sadly, we have seen the same depressing scenes as other parts of the country, with litter left in our parks & green spaces during the past week.
"This is just two appalling examples of litter at Witham Rugby Club and Great Notley Country Park recently.
"Our litter picking crews are out and still bin emptying but it’s not just down to us to keep our district clean & tidy to protect our environment – it needs to be a COLLECTIVE effort.

"We want you to enjoy our fantastic parks this Easter bank holiday weekend, but please put your litter in a bin or take it home with you if the bins are full.
"We need your help to keep our parks and green spaces looking good & litter free for everyone. Thank you Braintree district."
