A MAJOR road is set to be closed as part of ongoing works.

The road closure will be in place at the junction of London Road and Queenborough Lane in Great Notley next week.

Works will allow for the installation of a new raised junction as part of the ongoing London Road works.

The closure will run from 9.30am on April 6 to midnight on April 11, meaning a 24hr closure of the junction during this period.

This will also impact bus services with the number 70 and 352 unable to service London Road bus stops.

Instead they will re-route to use the A131 bypass.

A spokesperson for Essex Highways said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the road closure. The works will be undertaken as quickly and as safely as possible and once complete will result in a much-improved junction.”

The ongoing improvements running from Skiddaw Close to Tortoiseshell Way are being undertaken to make it safer and easier to walk or cycle into and from Braintree and include:

• Resurfacing and improvements to footway / cycleways;

• The creation of a raised junction at Queenborough Lane with improved crossing point, making it safer for all users;

• Relocation of the existing footway /cycleway crossing point on the A120 westbound off slip, to improve lines of sight;

• Improvements to signage and markings;

• The removal of vegetation as required
