Some of Braintree's landmarks were lit up in yellow last night to mark a year since the first coronavirus lockdown.
Braintree Town Hall and Hedingham Castle were both bathed in yellow to remember the past year.
Charity Marie Curie held a National Day of Reflection to mourn the loss of those who died of Covid during the pandemic.
Braintree District Council said: "This evening on the National Day of Reflection...
"We light up Braintree Town Hall yellow to reflect our collective loss, to show our support for all those who have been bereaved, and as a symbol of hope for the future."

A minutes silence was held at 12pm and a doorstep vigil at 8pm, with famous landmarks lit up across the country.
The colour yellow was chosen to acknowledge that it was springtime when the pandemic first arrived.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who observed the minute's silence privately, offered his "sincere condolences" to people bereaved during the pandemic.
He said: "Today, the anniversary of the first lockdown, is an opportunity to reflect on the past year - one of the most difficult in our country's history.
"We should also remember the great spirit shown by our nation over this past year."
