One part of the district has seen a rise in the number of Covid cases in a week, new figures show.

Despite cases and infection rates in most parts of the district dropping significantly over the last week, this is not the case in Witham Town.

The area has seen a week on week increase in its Covid infection rate.

Last week the rate stood at 258.2 per 100,000 people.

Its infection rate now stands at 418.4, by far the highest infection rate in the district.

A further 47 cases have also been recorded in the last seven days.

It is now back in the second most at risk category using the Government data.

Seven areas of the district have recorded fewer than ten cases in the seven days leading up to February 10.

These are - Panfield, Finchingfield & Bardfield, Braintree West & Rayne, Great Notley & Black Notley, Flitch Green, Felsted & High Easter, Coggeshall & Kelvedon, West Witham and North Witham.
