PART of a major road has been closed this afternoon after it was covered in soil.
Police have been forced to close the southbound carriageway on the A131 near Great Leighs after a lorry shed its load.
The incident happened just before 3pm.
The closure is in place between the roundabout at the junction with Moulsham Hall Lane and Essex Regiment Way.
The Essex Roads Policing Unit - North is at the scene and has tweeted: "This and more on the A131 near Great Leigh’s towards Chelmsford means that the road is currently closed between Great Leigh’s and A130.
"Awaiting Essex Highways to come and clear. If you saw the vehicle that lost this load please contact 101 quoting incident 549 of January 6."
