A CAMPAIGN which seeks to raise cash for a youngster battling a rare genetic disorder has been handed a major boost, thanks to a housebuilder.

Persimmon Homes has pledged £1,000 to help Sadie Chittock, aged two, continue with her physiotherapy sessions.

Sadie, who is from Braintree, also needs regular occupational therapy, swimming sessions and other activities to keep her stimulated.

Her condition affects the nerves in her brain, which in turn stops her body functioning as it should.

Mum Rachel Fincham approached Persimmon after learning about the firm’s Community Champion scheme.

She said: “As well as the activities we can manage, we rely on expert practitioners from around the country and Sadie even has fortnightly online sessions from Canada to help her improve.

“To fund this I have organised all types of fundraisers but this has been hit hard by Covid.

“I am determined to keep pushing as hard as possible to give Sadie the best chances in life.”

Persimmon agreed to give Rachel the cash via its community scheme – which sees grants handed out to groups and good causes on a monthly basis.

Managing director Richard Hush said: “When we heard of Sadie’s plight we knew we had to help out.

“Providing the support and stimulation she needs is a tall order at any time – let alone times like this when fundraisers and other support networks have been decimated by the pandemic.”
