OVER 150 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in North Wales in the last day, the latest data shows.

Public Health Wales figures released on Sunday show that there have been 165 cases in the region in the last 24 hours.

Of these, over 100 were in Flintshire and Wrexham.

The full breakdown of cases is as follows:

  • 56 in Wrexham
  • 47 in Flintshire
  • 21 in Conwy
  • 15 on Anglesey
  • 13 in Denbighshire
  • 13 in Gwynedd

Across Wales as a whole, 1,104 cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, with five new suspected coronavirus-related deaths confirmed - three of which were in North Wales.

On Saturday, 11,217 coronavirus tests were conducted across Wales - with the total number undertaken since the start of the pandemic now over a million.

Dr Eleri Davies, incident director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “Public Health Wales is reminding people that fire-break restrictions came into effect in Wales at 6pm on Friday 23 October, and will last until the start of Monday 9 November.

“We urge the public to stick to the new rules, which are vital to help us regain control of the virus, to protect the NHS, and save lives.

“Although national and local measures have made a difference, further action is now needed.  Cases continue to rise in Wales, hospital admissions are increasing, including those into critical care, and sadly so are the numbers of people dying from the virus."
