A MOLD care home resident is ensuring that the Royal British Legion's poppy appeal is as fruitful as ever by making and selling poppies.

Bryn yr Haul care home resident Jean Hughes is knitting the poppies and selling them to raise money for the 2020 poppy appeal.

The Leader:

This year's appeal is hampered by the current Covid restrictions, and Jean wanted to do her bit to help out.

Christine Whiteside, care home manager, said: "Here at Bryn yr Haul we are taking part in a small remembrance tribute, marking the bravery of the men and women who gave so much.

"We are making and wearing our poppies in a very special way this year so we can still keep our promise: ‘we will remember them’

"Due to Covid restrictions we may not be able to place our poppies of remembrance as we would normally and we may not be able to participate in the way in which we would like to in November due to social distancing, however, we have created with the help of some of our residents our own tribute to be part of the tradition of Remembrance Day."
