CENTRAL Braintree remains the worst affected place in the district following a surge in cases of Covid-19.

Public Health England's hotspots map shows there were 10 cases recorded in the area between October 6 and 13.

It means the infection rate in Central Braintree in that period was 105.6 cases per 100,000 people.

The average infection rate in the district currently stands at 43.6.

The hotspots map now shows different colours depending on the infection rate in each area.

Blue means the rate is between 100 and 200, and white means it is suppressed.

Here's how many cases were recorded in each area of the district between October 6 and 13, as well as the seven-day infection rates:

  • Central Braintree - 10 cases at a rate of 105.6
  • West Braintree and Rayne - 4 cases at a rate of 50.8
  • Bocking - 5 cases at a rate of 68.6
  • Bocking Churchstreet and Blackwater - 4 cases at a rate of 43.1
  • Great Notley and Black Notley - 8 cases at a rate of 82.6
  • Coggeshall and Kelvedon - 8 cases at a rate of 75.3
  • Silver End and Stisted - 4 cases at a rate of 38.7
  • Witham South, Hatfield Peverel and White Notley - 3 cases at a rate of 37.5
  • Witham Town - 5 cases at a rate of 44.5
  • Hedingham, Gosfield and Greenstead Green - 4 cases at a rate of 55.6
  • Steeple Bumpstead and Great Yeldham - 3 cases at a rate of 43.7

Areas not included in the list have recorded between 0-2 cases and are shaded white.

Public Health England says there have been 762 cases of Covid-19 confirmed in the Braintree district since the pandemic began.
