MORE FLINTSHIRE students are self-isolating following positive coronavirus tests with people associated with their schools.

Flintshire Council has confirmed that four year groups at Castell Alun High School in Hope (years 8, 9, 12 and 13) are now self-isolating due to coronavirus cases.

A case at Southdown CP School in Buckley has also been confirmed.

Flintshire Council's chief officer for education and youth, Claire Homard, said: "There are four year groups currently self-isolating at Castell Alun High School (Years 8, 9, 12 and 13).

"There are also a number of pupils from a particular bus route who are also self-isolating."

The bus route in question involves the Marford route, a letter to parents seen by the Leader states.

Mrs Homard added: "We have also been informed of and are advising on a confirmed case of Covid-19 at Southdown CP in Buckley.

"The school has followed all the appropriate protocols and engaged with the NHS Test, Trace and Protect (TTP) Team and the council’s environmental health team.

"Pupils and staff identified as close contacts of the confirmed case have been informed and are now self-isolating in line with national guidance.

"This advice relates only to one of the nursery classes at the current time.

"However, the nursery provision at the school has had to close completely because of the unavailability of staff."

"The rest of the school remains open and it is not necessary for any other child to self-isolate, stay away from school or to be tested, unless they are advised to do so by the TTP team or if they develop symptoms of Covid-19."
