MORE than one thousand new jobs are set to be created at Morrisons to keep up with the demands of orders through Amazon.

Supermarket chain Morrison’s are creating over 1,000 new permanent jobs to fulfil orders for its services on Amazon.

The customer demand has forced the company to recruit colleagues to help pick and pack orders from over 50 stores, covering most major cities and towns.

Roles are available stores across the country, include the store in Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne.

Orders are placed on Amazon, before being picked in store by Morrisons employees and packed in a dedicated area.

From there, the shopping is collected by delivery drivers and delivered to the customer within a two-hour slot on the same day.

Hannah Horsfall, head of Amazon at Morrison said: “At Morrisons, we’re doing everything we can to ensure everyone can order our great value food and have it delivered to their doorstep.

“We’re looking for team players, with good customer service skills that can play their full part in helping to feed the nation.

“Successful candidates will work as part of a delivery team in stores, ensuring that orders are picked and packed correctly, and customer service standards are maintained.”

The recruitment comes just weeks after the chain announced it will be reintroducing coronavirus marshals and queuing systems at stores across the country.

The company said the decision was due to customer feedback.
