WITHAM MP Priti Patel toured Witham’s industrial estates for talks over the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and economic recovery with business leaders.

Ms Patel toured the premises of South East Galvanisers and Masterframe Windows as well as holding a catch-up meeting with the directors of Witham Industrial Watch.

The Home Secretary said: “The industrial estates are at the heart of our community, providing local employment and manufacturing innovative, world-leading products.

"Like other parts of the economy, the pandemic has had an impact on many of these businesses and it was useful to discuss how they are coping and adjusting to the new economic climate.

I will continue to work with Witham Industrial Watch and local authorities to get a robust local recovery plan in place

"I was particularly heartened to hear some very positive feedback from both of these businesses about how well they are doing in bouncing back from Covid-19, with strong support from their staff. South East Galvanizers are even hiring again.”

Ms Patel added: “The business support measures put in place by the Government have undoubtedly helped many of these firms, but there is more to do in the months ahead.

"I will continue to work with Witham Industrial Watch and local authorities to get a robust local recovery plan in place.”
