I would like to make it known about the response I got from Essex Police in relation to the continuing speeding motorists who totally ignore the 30mph speed limit which is by law set out in built-up areas.
Only this morning a driver sped along Church Lane at an estimated speed of 60mph and the day before I almost got dragged along the road by a young woman driving a black Ford car.
It seems that these motorists are travelling at such speeds they would never be able to stop the car within the distance set out in the Highway Code in the event of someone pulling out in front of them, or if a pedestrian were crossing the road.
The police it seems have not got the manpower or resources and blame it on Covid-19. They tell people to report it online. What on Earth do we pay our council tax for, I ask?
These ignorant speeding motorists treat it as a rat run. It makes me wonder how on earth they pass their driving test, or for that matter what methods driving instructors use and how strict they are when supposedly teaching someone to drive.
Cars are a killer, yes, a killer, and that is what will happen to someone along here, so go on Essex Police, wait until there is a serious accident along Church Lane, then perhaps you might do something about it - and that goes for Essex County Highways too.
