FORMER Southend United midfielder Dru Yearwood has completed a switch to New York Red Bulls.
The 20-year-old, who came through the ranks at Roots Hall, has joined New York from Brentford in a deal which could rise to £1.5millions.
And Red Bulls’ head of sport Kevin Thelwell is thrilled to have Yearwood on board.
“On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to welcome Dru,” Thelwell told the club’s official website.
“Dru is a talented, young player that already has a good amount of senior team appearances.
“He is mature beyond his years and made a great impression on us during the interview process.”
Yearwood made 61 appearances for Blues before joining Brentford for £500,000 in August 2019.
However, the midfielder found it tough to get into the Bees’ first team.
And he is now on the move once again, much to the delight of Red Bulls’ head coach Chris Armas.
“Dru is a young, exciting central midfielder, a true competitor and a ball winner, qualities we know fit well in our style of play,” said Armas.
“He’s also an intelligent player who brings intensity and passion every time he steps on the field.”
Blues are also believed to have a 20 per cent sell on clause on the deal.
