A village restaurant is set to reopen under new management following the coronavirus lockdown.

Lovejoy Catering and Events has announced The George, in Coggeshall Road, Kelvedon, will be welcoming guests for the first time from Thursday (August 6).

The restaurant, formerly known as The Halfway, closed in March because of the coronavirus pandemic and has since been brought under new management.

The new bosses say they want visitors to have an "unforgettable experience" and are offering a range of food, from a la carte to light terrace bites.

Lovejoy's managing director Joey Lovejoy said: "After the recent few months, we have all come to realize that family, friends and community are more important than ever.

"Seeing people face to face to connect on a more personal level really has become a luxury.

"With many rural communities losing their pubs, restaurants and bars, I'm proud to be able to open up a place where people can reconnect over some great food and drink.

"Me and the team really look forward to welcoming both new and old customers to our beautiful venue."

Bosses have given the restaurant a new contemporary look and say they have been able to use the lockdown to carry out a revamp of the venue.

A spokesman added: "Every effort has been made to make sure customers feel happy and safe and the new government guidelines have been followed for the opening."
