FORMER Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley is keen to be the next Southend United manager, Echosport understands.
The 43-year-old was in charge of the Mariners between March 2018 and November 2019.
But he is now keen to replace Sol Campbell at Roots Hall.
The Shrimpers have been without a boss since Campbell left the club at the end of June but Jolley - who won 29 of his 86 matches at Grimsby - is among those to have applied.
Jolley has also managed AFC Eskilstuna in Sweden and spent three years working with Burnley's under 23 side.
He has also coached at Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Lincoln City and Crewe Alexandra and is a graduate of Cambridge University with a masters in economics.
